Vision
- Our vision is a world where peace exists and where love is all; where people and planet are put first and the well-being of the Earth community bring harmony to all.
Mission
- Our mission is to ensure that the law of Ecocide is fully implemented by all nations by 2020.
Values
Our values are the foundations for the way we work, and they are what sets us apart.Visionary
- We seek to be visionary in all that we do, being creative, imaginative and innovative, showing that it is possible to do things a different way.
Inspiring
- Our aim is serious, but the way we do it can also be fun.
- We focus on the inspiring and positive vision for change in the future rather than the negatives.
Unifying
- We all share one Earth and all of us can make a difference.
- Eradicating Ecocide is important for people everywhere around the world, women and men, adults and children, rich and poor, educated and uneducated, whatever your race, ethnicity, nation or colour of skin.
- We challenge those who are doing harm to the environment constructively, seeking dialogue rather than confrontation - everyone is capable of change.
Collaborative
- Eradicate Ecocide is not owned by the central team, it is a mission and a responsibility shared by anyone and everyone around the world.
- Eradicating Ecocide is open source: we ask to take action in whatever way you can and we ask you to be true to the principles set out here.
- We ask you to share what you are doing with us and others, so we can all spread good ideas to others and build action and momentum.
Determined
- We shall move as fast as possible to make Ecocide an international crime – it is an urgent priority for the world.
- We are also determined and will stay the course, no matter how long it takes.
- Throughout we will find ways to keep our vision, stay inspired and inspire others, unify people and collaborate with many – to achieve amazing things together.
Environmental policy
General
- We believe that caring for the environment starts with the individual.
- Our team is committed to living and working as lightly as possible.
- We are all love organic, raw and vegetarian food.
- In the office we recycle, keep printing to an absolute minimum, use eco-cleaning products and conserve energy as much as possible.
Reduction of Emissions
- We donate to the restoration of the Caledonian Forest scheme. This was chosen because it is based in Scotland where Polly Higgins is from.
- Trees for Life have kindly gifted the setting up of our own grove, and this year (2011- 2012) we will purchase 61 trees to be planted.
- We are very conscious that it is virtually impossible to offset carbon – for us it is about being carbon conscious rather than offsetting. The number of trees that are planted reflect the carbon footprint of the Earth Community Trust for 2012.
Ethics
- We are a People and Planet organisation, that puts people and planet first. Our reputation is founded on our vision and values and our collective commitment to acting with integrity in everything we do.
- Read our People and Planet Guidelines here.
- Our People and Planet Guidelines are part of our commitment to our environmental and social responsibility.
Well-Being
- The team’s well-being is of the utmost importance; and it allows us to work to our full potential.
- Our working hours are 10am – 6pm Monday to Friday, yet we often end up working in the evenings and weekends doing talks and speaking at conferences. Therefore, we allow flexibility, time to rest and the option of working from home occasionally.
- All of our team have free healthcare provision with the Charity's Kinesiologist.
